Moana New Zealand is a 100% Māori-owned kaimoana and kai ora company that believes sustainability is about going above and beyond what is required of them. To achieve a 5% relative reduction in annual energy use in the short term and transition to 100% renewable energy in the long term, Moana was seeking solutions to help them achieve this.
Moana New Zealand’s participation in our Simply Flex program provides vital support to the power grid during times of stress. By temporarily reducing the power consumption of refrigerators, compressors, fans, and pumps at their Palmerston North cold storage facility, they help stabilise the grid, all without disrupting seafood processing.
By participating in the Simply Flex program, Moana New Zealand is not only actively supporting a greener grid and reducing the reliance on fossil fuels during peak demand, but also generating a new revenue stream, demonstrating their dedication to a more sustainable New Zealand.
