How we keep your personal information safe
This policy applies if you are using our website and communicating with us through social media. This policy applies to any personal information you provide to Simply Energy but not any business or company information you provide. We may change this policy by uploading a revised copy. Any changes to our policy will apply from the date a revised policy is uploaded. This policy was last updated on 1 July 2021.
Website users
Simply Energy collects personal information contained in any application form, interaction or information submitted via this website
We will only use personal information you provide for the purpose you provided it for. Sometimes, we may need to share information you provide about our third-party service providers to them, to enable us to respond to you effectively.
Social media users
Simply Energy operates across a range of social media including LinkedIn and YouTube. We receive any personal information you submit when you interact with social media accounts operated by Simply Energy, and whatever information is publicly showing on your social profile. We use it to interact with you, answer queries and provide you with any services or information you request on social media platforms.
Customers
We’ll keep your personal information secure and it’ll be held by us in our customer database in accordance with the Privacy Act 2020 and as set out in our energy supply agreement. We’ll use and disclose personal information in accordance with our general terms and conditions and to enable us to:
- confirm your identity and address specific connection identifiers; or
- carry out credit checks or otherwise assess your creditworthiness; or
- advise you of any products or services which we consider may be of interest to you or otherwise communicate with you (unless you say no to this); or
- conduct, or contact you for the purpose of market research; or
- collect debts; or
- implement any scheme for the payment of rebates; or
- provide you with any services you have requested; or
- share credit information and your payment history with other energy supply companies, either directly, indirectly or through credit agencies, for the purpose of those companies carrying out credit reference checks in relation to the supply of energy or related services to you.
We may conduct customer surveys on the website or via other means, to collect statistics for marketing and research purposes. We will use this information for the purpose we state at the time we issue the survey. You can choose not to participate in these surveys.
As a security measure, when somebody registers an account for online services, the account holder (the person who receives the bill) will be advised their account is now available to be viewed online by the person who registered the account. If the account holder hasn’t given that person the authority to view their account online, they should contact us to arrange for this access to be removed.
Rights of access and correction
If you want to know what personal information is held about you, please contact us. It’s freely available to you. You’re entitled to ask for any personal information to be corrected. If we refuse to make the correction you seek, you are entitled to ask for a statement of correction to be attached to the uncorrected personal information.

Simply Energy uses ‘cookies’, eTags, pixels and other digital tracking tools for functional, analytical, personalisation and advertising purposes.

In the event of inconsistency between our terms and conditions relating to the handling of complaints and the Energy Complaints Scheme, the Energy Complaints Scheme will prevail.
